Styled Product Images for Smarty Pits
Smarty Pits has to be one of the most fun projects I've worked on to date. I don't often get to use color so creatively, and now I'm completely obsessed with this style of product photography. For this shoot I was lucky enough to work with stylist Sara Alsobrooks. Sara is such a talented designer, and working with her has been such a gift to my creative soul!
For this shoot we utilized a single bare strobe and even threw in some gobos (go-betweens) on several of the shots. They create such a fun shadow in the shot, and I can't wait to find other ways to use them in the future.
Smarty Pits is a women owned brand made in Bend, Oregon. I absolutely love doing product photography for local businesses. It's an honor to help local entrepreneurs better feature their products on social media, in print and on their websites. While this project was outside the norm for me, I hope it won't be for long. I would love to continue shooting in this style as it was truly a lot of fun.
For the blue labels, we created a monochromatic look with several shades of blue. The stepped prop gives a city scape Mad Men vibe which goes great with the fedora on the label.
Ginger Lime scent is a more unisex scent with both brightness and depth. We kept the design simple by playing with height and fresh cut limes.
Sweet Orange Bergamot scent is a refreshing citrus blend, so we used fresh citrus to compliment the look.
Grapefruit Cardamom scent is a bright citrus scent with a dash of spiciness, so we made sure to use bright colored props with a touch of tropical vibes to accent the fruit!
